University of Georgia archivisit Linda Aaron, with Mary Johnson and Sindney Fortson have preserved more than 100 Civil War letters that were donated by Johnson and Fortson.

Make plans to attend the Annual Spring Tour of Homes on the first weekend of April each year. Tour HQ is WW Elementary School (Saturday) and the Chamber of Commerce (Friday). Features several private homes open only for this tour. Also features many churches, public buildings, museums, and other sites. Day Tour (Saturday): 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Candlelight tour (Friday Night) 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Woman's Club, the Kiwanis Club, and the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce.
